Ways to relieve Stress in Student Life
by Clare Louise
Most of the students suffer from depression and anxiety due to the constant pressure and hard competition in academic life. This stress can affect their physical and mental health. Many of them feel unable to cope up with this excessive pressure. This can disrupt their sleep, eating habit and most importantly their behavior. Taking important decisions regarding career, choosing subjects become more difficult for them. Stress and anxiety causes panic attacks, lack of concentration, dissatisfaction. All these make life more painful. Let’s see what we can do to get relief from this stress. Eric from productsyoucantrefuse shares some important tips with us to relieve stress.
- Try to visualize
When you are preparing for a submission or presentation, just stop for a second and close your eyes. Imagine you are already in the spot. Now think how and what you want to present. How things will be better and get you good marks. Or if you are not able to memorize any topic, try to relate that with some easier word or any situation that is easy for you to remember. And visualize the whole thing. This will last in your mind for a longer period of time and you won’t have to get stressed by studying the same thing again and again.
- Take naps
If you are pushing yourself and studying for long enough or cutting short on your sleep because you have a lot to do, don’t. This will make you tired and increase your stress level. Take a nap. Give your brain some rest. Don’t think this will waste your time. Your brain stores the important information when you are asleep. So studying continuously won’t help if you don’t get enough sleep.
- Meditation
Meditation is one of the most effective ways to heal stress, anxiety and depression. You can get meditating audios online. This will help you concentrate better. Else you can do it on your own by using breathing techniques. Do give it a try to relax your nerves.
- Eat properly
Due to the hectic class schedules, assignments and projects students often ignore their meals. But you need proper nutrition to fight your anxiety. No matter how busy you are, maintain a balanced meal. Eat vegetables, fruits, protein.
- Do exercise
Exercise is not only a stress reliever but also it is essential for every human being. Regular exercise helps us to keep fatigue away and make our body and mind more focused. You can try yoga, cycling or jogging. Or you can walk to your campus with a friend. Early morning exercise keeps us fresh for the day. Or simply, only breathing exercise can help you calm down when stress is hitting you hard.
- Be organized
Keeping things in the right place is a good habit. It saves you from wasting time by searching here and there. Helps your mind to keep calm. If you have a lot of tasks to do, make a priority list depending on the deadlines. Then divide your time in a way that you don’t have to keep any of the tasks incomplete. Do the tasks one by one patiently. By organizing things, you know how much time you have and how you are going to do this. So you will not freak out.
- Buy yourself some time
You need to be happy and cheerful. Forget your stress for some time. Take a break. Pick a favorite book and read it. Buy yourself a coffee or go on a walk with a friend. Talk. Laugh. Your heart needs this most. Do not lose yourself in the daily struggles. So take a break and enjoy your life.
